Bioprocessing Scientist

Join us

We are Antleron, a Leuven-based R&D start-up that develops custom bioprocess solutions across a wide range of life science applications, with a focus on advanced and personalized therapies. Using our unique technology toolbox, the Antleron team of multidisciplinary specialists creates and develops biomanufacturing solutions and infrastructure platforms to bring next-generation therapies faster and closer to patients in a sustainable way. Our technology toolbox combines digital twins and 3D printing with the power of cell biology to make our factory-of-the-future vision a reality.

We are currently looking for a bioprocessing scientist to strengthen our day-to-day cell biology operations and enhance the development and integration of the Antleron technology in next-generation cell-based bioprocesses. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated person with a hands-on mentality and great organizational skills who feels at ease in a non-routine, dynamic environment. The ability to work well with others as part of our cohesive team, take the initiative, and a willingness to expand your own knowledge and skillset to creatively solve problems are essential.

Responsibilities

You will be joining the bioprocess R&D team where you will closely collaborate with your biological, 3D printing, and computational colleagues to further expand your own, as well as Antleron’s, bioprocessing knowledge. You can expect to take on the following responsibilities:

  • Being involved in the development of next generation bioprocesses by undertaking biochemical, molecular, and cell biology research activities related to mammalian in vitro cell biology.

  • Designing and performing experiments both individually and collaboratively, with a problem-solving attitude. Brainstorming with your R&D colleagues on process technology and responsibility for the development, modification, and improvement of standard operating procedures.

  • Taking the initiative in implementing innovative process technology in your day-to-day operations and supporting the R&D team in day-to-day laboratory operations.

  • Analyzing and interpreting as well as reporting and presenting on experimental data and findings. Maintaining detailed electronic notebook of all experimental activities.

  • Setting up, adjusting, cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment.

Requirements

We are looking for a hands-on scientist with a team mentality and a passion for continuous innovation. As we are a multidisciplinary team, an inquisitive mind with broad scientific interests and the willingness to learn will ensure you are a good fit for our working environment. In this context, the following characteristics are desirable for this position:

  • An MSc in Life Sciences or equivalent experience. Prior laboratory experience with information and techniques related to mammalian cell biology is a bonus.

  • Outstanding planning, organizational, and multi-tasking skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.

  • Broad interests and a creative mind capable of applying these interests in your work.

  • Eagerness to learn about new technologies.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (Dutch is not required but would be considered a bonus) and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Functional knowledge of MS Office software.
